We celebrate the gift of language. In Tanzania our students learn Masai at home, start Kindergarden and learn in Swahili and by Year 3 they learn in English. The mother tongue is such a fundamental part of developing identity and culture and we make room for this in our programs. We ensure our students can express themselves in their language of choice while navigating the official languages of the country.

Esther is the oldest of 10 orphans, living with a physical disability and looking after all her siblings. It was an honour to hear her story and to tell her we’d buy a special sewing machine that caters for her needs so she can participate in our sewing training program.
